WIRE CUT MACHINE (Wire Cut Electrical Discharge Machine, WEDM)
Wire cut machine is a CNC special electrical discharge processing equipment. It uses continuously moving thin metal wire (molybdenum wire or brass wire) as electrode. Pulse spark discharge generates instantaneous high temperature to erode metal and cut workpiece contours.
There is no direct mechanical contact between wire electrode and workpiece during processing, so no cutting force occurs. It can machine any conductive metals regardless of hardness, including high-hardness tool steel and cemented carbide which are difficult for conventional cutting machines.
It is widely applied for mould manufacturing, complex precision parts, narrow slots and curve profiling. Commonly used for foundry moulds, fixture tools and stamping dies.
